my puppy is 10 months old and one of her puppy teeth didnt come out...it was her right top canine so the adult canine and the puppy canine is still in her mouth do i have to get it pulled?
One of my puppies canine teeth?
It might eventually come out on its own. You may have to have it pulled, though, if in a few months it hasn't come out by itself.
Reply:Hmmm - i think i would, yes.
I guess its not necessary unless its causing her discomfort, but its not noramal and can only cause problems in the long run.
Reply:Give it time to come out.
Reply:If she hasn't been spayed yet, have your vet pull it when she is spayed. It can cause problems in the long run if not pulled.
Reply:If I were you I would go to our vet and see what they say but I am warning you pulling dogs teeth is very risky because you break their jaw and if they break their jaw you have to put them to sleep so go to your vet and let them handle it.
Reply:absolutely have it pulled, should have been done a few months ago, not so critical in a pet, but it does affect the shape of the mouth.
Reply:Are both teeth there?
I would say give it some more time. Give her something hard to chew on and play tug of war to entice it to come out. As long as it is not causing her any pain, you don't really have to worry about it.
Puppy teeth aren't the strong and it will eventually fall/break out. Bring it up at your next vet appointment if it is still a concern.
You can always call your vet as well, phone calls are free.
Reply:With one of my shelties she had a tooth like that, and made that tooth push forward. So if you haven't gotten the spay done yet, they will do it when she is under for the surgery. You don't want her under anymore than they have to be. My shih tzu was in the vet yesterday to have her teeth cleaned. I do that once a year. She is also 10 years old.
Reply:Sometimes the baby tooth becomes jammed as the adult tooth grows in and you have no option but to have it taken out. As someone else suggested, you could have it done if/when you have her spayed - saves her having 2 lots of anasthaetic. If you just leave it it could cause problems when she's older.
Reply:If the dog doesn't seem like it hurts or effect his eating I see no reason to spend the money to have it pulled, sorry I just noticed that you refer to the puppy as her, Although if she has trouble eating or acts as if in hurts I would check into having it pulled. good luck with the little girl.
Reply:I would 1st take her to the vet and get it looked at. It may not even be a baby tooth, it could just be a small adult tooth.
Or the adult tooth could have grown next to the baby tooth. So the tooth may need to be pulled.
But before you do anything, please check with your vet.
