I have a 4 month old puppy that has lost 5 teeth in the past week, is that normal?

My puppy came from the pound and did not have any toys ect. to chew on while he was teething in his kennel. He may be loosing a lot of his teeth now that he has something to chew on. I was wondering if loosing this many teeth is normal?

At about three months of age, the central incisors are replaced by the dog's permanent teeth. The four permanent canine teeth are often the last to appear, and typically are not visible until about six months of age. Permanent premolars begin to erupt about four months of age. There are four on each side, on both the upper and lower jaws, and the rearmost is usually visible by six months of age. Those 16

permanent teeth take the place of the 12 deciduous premolars. The two upper molars on each side and three lower molars on each side also begin to appear

at about four months, with the last of the ten erupting at about six months.

If the dog missed out on loosing in the first three months due to a lack of gum and teeth stimulation than it is completely normal to do some catch-up!
Reply:thats not good they should only be losing that many in a month take him to a vet most likley his teeth are rotting
Reply:He's no doubt losing his puppy teeth. If you are really concerned I would have a word with your vet or call the shelter you got him from.
Reply:Dogs have puppy teeth ( really sharp small teeth) and gradually lose them as they get older like people. If he already has his adult teeth and is losing them then go to the vet becuase this is not normal but if he is losing puppy teeth it's nothing to worry about
Reply:4 months of age is a little early to be teething, most dogs teeth in the 5-7month old range at which point its normal. however 4 months is a tiny bit too young to be teething...

being its a pound puppy he might be a little older than first estimated which is normal...

i would have the vet take a quick look though to make sure theres nothing going on (ie infected gums)
Reply:Yes, relax !! That's the age they loose teeth. Do some reSearch on puppies PLEASE !!!!!
Reply:ya their supposed to lose them. its weird i know my puppy lost teeth but i don't remember ever seeing them. wonder what ever happened to those things! lol. but don't worry its normal.
Reply:yes when they're a puppy they will lose there teeth, mine did. There like ppl. But if your really worried about it take him to the vet, but they'll prolly just tell u the same. hope i helped. vote best=]
Reply:no, i'd bring him to a vet quick
