How old does a puppy have to be to lose his baby teeth?
My puppy is 5 months and her teeth are just coming out now. It seems as if the adult teeth are already growing through as the baby teeth are hollow.

We started collecting them as they are quite cute ;-)
Reply:Most between 4 %26amp; 5 months.

A couple in the back can take until 6 months
Reply:After 5 or 4 months
Reply:They usually begin to lose them at 2 -3 months. Be sure to give your puppy good things (like chewies) to chew on rather than shoes or furniture. :-)

I've listed an article about this under source.

Have fun with your puppy!
Reply:YOu pup can start to lose his teeth at 3-4 months old. He will lose all his teeth even his molars. The perment teeth will come in shortly after the milk teeth fall out. Dont get nervous if you see some blood it is normal. Get some really good chew toys for him to chew on. I dont recomend raw hide for pups.

Perhaps you will be lucky and find a few of the baby teeth. Most pups just swallow them.
Reply:They should all be gone before your puppy is 5 1/2 months old!
Reply:They start usually, depending on the breed.. 15 - 17 weeks of age.. You'll know! :)
Reply:Puppy teeth begin to shed and be replaced by permanent adult teeth at about four months of age
Reply:My husband has been in the dog business for 27 years.

Puppies loose their baby teeth starting at 4 months and finish at 6 months. Just like kids, they begin loosing their front teeth first.

This is also a period of time when their bones go through some rapid growth so nutrition is very important, especially for larger breeds.
Reply:Depending on the breed, your puppy will begin losing baby teeth soon and continue until he is 6 to 8 months old. Some smaller breeds will retain (keep) some of their baby teeth for life. You will know, because you will see 2 sets of teeth -- typically 2 upper canines on each side (the "fang" teeth). If you see this, it is very important that you have your veterinarian extract the baby tooth. Leaving both the baby tooth and the adult tooth will predispose your dog to dental disease. A good time to do this is when you spay or neuter your dog.

Reply:I don't know if all dogs are different but Shih Tzu's , mine at least start losing their at four months Often the teeth needs help coming out to make way for permanent teeth. That is where chew toys and such come into play. The front teeth will be replaced first. then the canine or fang teeth erupt.
Reply:The reason for the different answers are that the smaller breeds will loose their baby teeth sooner than the larger breeds, since you did not state what breed you own,

you and answers as a guide if you have a toy breeds than the earliest ages given responses, a large breed the later ages given and mediun will be somewhere inbetween but often closer to the large breeds

My crested had his most new teeth in by 6 months so when he was neutered then the vet removed any babyteeth that were still remaining to ensure his new teeth would not get crowden and come in straight
Reply:it depends, most dogs start to loose them at about 7 months..my dog lost his teeth when he was about 6 months so right about that 6-8 month period.
